MTV's My Super Sweet Sixteen... in Dundalk

My Super Sweet Sixteen
The latest phenomenon to hit Dundalk is the Super Sweet Sixteenth birthday of a local boy from Blackrock. It is the talk of the town amongst all the school kids and they all want to go, regardless of how well they know him, my sister being one of them. She doesn't even know the boy, but yet she is invited through a friend as everyone with an invite has a plus one which is they can take someone with them. The theme is an all white party so she is frantically looking for a white outfit everywhere. Another highlight of the whole thing is that MTV are filming it and have been filming the birthday boy for the last few weeks around the local shopping centre and ice rink. The venue is Silence nightclub and Lorcan is going to arrive at it in a carriage pulled by Husky dogs. Snow Patrol are supposed to be performing at it and Lorcan has many costume changes throughout the night some being a baby blue suit and baby pink suit. I think the whole thing is hilarious!

Kanye West Concert

Kanye West in Ireland
I went to the long awaited Kanye West concert Friday night. He was really brilliant, when he eventually came on to the stage. There were a few opening acts before him which i thought would never leave stage. While they were all playing, groups of thirteen year olds started pushing and causing everyone to fall on top of eachother or worse to the ground were you then couldn't get up. It was horrible and so dangerous because we were very close to the front were everyone wanted to be. I got a bit frustrated and roared at them a few times and nearly had to leave because i couldn't breathe, but i stuck it out until Kanye came on and it was worth it. He was amazing, but after about an hour and a half he just left the stage and everyone was just standing around wondering is that it, so that was a bit disappointing.

Modelling for Fiaga bathroons

I had a modelling job or might i call it an advertising job last weekend. It was my first time doing anything like that. It was for a new bathrooms showroom called Fiaga in Drogheda. There was a little boy and girl and then another male model, Paul. We had to act like a happy family, taking into mind i had never met any of these people before. I was suppost to be the mother,he was the father and the kids were our kids. Our look was the fresh out of the shower look as we had to wear bathrobes and towels around our hair and pose in baths and showers. It was really different, but it was actually quite hard to act like we all loved eachother, but we had fun with it. I had my make-up done as usual, but i didn't like it at all. It was suppost to be natural since you don't come out of a shower with your face all done up. I got a glimpse of the pictures at the end and i thought it looked like i had about six inches of make-up on me, but i didn't mind i got paid for it!

Sleuth

picture from Sleuth
I went to the cinema last Saturday night to see something around the 7.30 mark, so when we got there we asked the cinema guy what was on at that time and he said, "Sleuth", so that's what we decided to see. We paid for the tickets and got the usual cinema stash of sweets and popcorn. Once the film started i got a surprise to see it wasn't what i was expecting the film to be. I thought it was going to be the horror film "Shrooms" and i was actually looking forward to a good scare which isn't like me. We stayed anyway and watched some of it. In the mean time a group of about twenty came in and decided to just talk and laugh loudly as soon as they sat down. Then this fella popped up and roared across the cinema to them with his Australian accent telling them to shut up or get out putting it mildly. At that stage they could have kept talking because the film was no addition anyway, i wanted to leave, but didn't want to make a scene of getting everyone to get up out of their seats. Thankfully, a couple in front of us got up and left so that was our cue to leave with them. It was the worst film i have ever seen in the cinema. The plot was basically about a rich man who had a big estate and his wife left him for a younger man who wasn't rich. The whole film is based in a house and the rich man wants the other man to steal jewels from him so he can run away with her and sell them and live off the money, but this was just a game, they are basically just playing mind games with each other and that was all i stayed to see. All in all i wouldn't recommend anyone to go and see this film!

North to South

Armagh crest
I moved to just outside Ardee about seven years ago. Before that i lived in Crossmaglen Co. Armagh. The move was a big change for me as i had just started secondary school there and was just getting into the swing of things. It was the middle of August when we moved to Ardee for no particular reason other than my mam was from there. I knew no-one at first, but the other kids were eager to get to know us. Then came the first day of secondary school, i can remember it like it was yesterday. Luckily i had my cousin who was the same age as me so i had friends going into the school at least. Everything was so different compared to my old school, this one was a mixed school and might i say there was no control over us at times which was such a relief in a bad way though after coming from an all girls Grammar school run by nuns. I was in that school for five years and we had fun times. I wouldn't move back to Cross now even if i was paid to. I'm still a staunch Armagh supporter though.

Nestle chocolate factory

Indoors of the factory
Outdoors of the factory
I came across this randomly one day and thought it was crazy. It's the Nestle chocolate factory in Mexico, but it's so clean and not what i expected a chocolate factory to look like. The architect, Michel Rojkind was asked to redesign the inside of the chocolate factory for it's daily visitors so the architect decided to create a new structure to entice the visitors into the Nestle building. After making their proposal, the architect and his team got straight into things, the design and construction took two and a half months to complete. The chocolate is made in the centre of the factory which isn't visible in the picture and the building funnels straight into it. The new museum like building introduced it's visitors to the making and also the history of the chocolate. I thought it was very interesting.

Kanye West Concert

This is the video of Kanye's most recent song "Good Life", i'm sure anyone interested already knows. Kanye West is playing the Marquee in Phoenix Park on the 30th of Novenber with his most recent album ''Graduation''. I can't wait! It's my first time seeing him live and apparently he puts on a good show. His mother passed away yesterday and he was in London when he heard the news so he had to abandon his plans and rush home to Los Angeles to his family. I'm not sure if the concert will go ahead though it's not for another few weeks away.

My College Times

Night out in college
I'm currently studying Public Relations in D.K.I.T as most people reading this know I'm sure. This wasn't my first experience as a first year as i was in D.I.T last year, but really hated it so when i began to study for my Christmas exams which were all after we returned from our Christmas holidays, i just knew i had to get out of there before i had a breakdown(well it wasn't that bad the socialising end of things and my friends were great as the picture shows ). From day one in the course i really didn't like it, but i just carried on thinking i had to please people and that maybe it would get better, but it didn't! So, thankfully i left anyway and it was the best decision i made. I worked in Barratts shoe shop when i left so it was hard to get used to not having as much money when i went back to college, but it was worth it because i love my course.

The day I couldn't count

I did my Leaving Cert in 2006. All i wanted to do was science there was nothing that would change my mind so i applied for Biomedical Science in D.I.T which was 400 points. I did the Leaving anyway and waited on my results and when i got them i only got 360 points so that was the end of D.I.T i thought. A week later when i got my letter from C.A.O it said i got into Biomedical Science so i was shocked but delighted. I got a call from my friend who told me to check the top of the letter were it said 400 points. I had went all that time thinking i didn't get my course and telling everyone too. Coincidentally my two friends made the same mistake but were not bimbos it was just one subject had a different points scheme. I got to Dublin anyway that September and hated it but that's another story...

my experience modelling

Boyne Magazine
My first experience of the modelling world all began a couple of years ago when my cousin asked me to go to Dublin with her for a modelling audition for Celtic model agency! I got through to the next level which was kind of surprising since i only went with her to keep her company! The next level was to go to Tipperary to the agency to meet with the person in charge of everything. It was very scary because when i went into her office i said "hello, how are you?" and i walked over towards the seats, but when i looked around to see where she was she was still standing at the door staring at me. Then she started giving out to me for not greeting her appropriately. At that stage i felt like walking out, my eyes were filled with tears but i couldn't cry so i just put on a brave face and she asked me to go outside the door and come in again properly and i did it how i was expected to. We sat down and she apologised for that, but it was for my own good because if i went into a top agency I'd have to make a good impression. She then started pouncing all of these questions at me like "why i want to be a model"(even though i didn't know i did). she then told me because i got through i had the opportunity to go to New York to be in a top fashion show were all the big agencies would be there to sign you up. When i heard that i all of a sudden wanted to be a model, so she left myself and my mam to talk about it for a few minutes. Then she came back in and i was really up for it but she just forgot to leave out one little detail, i had to pay 7,000 euro so we had to think about it. with that we were a bit weary about the whole thing.I spoke to my dad about it and he was nearly going to pay the money because it was what i wanted to do. thank god we decided not to go ahead with it because a few months later it came out in the papers that the 6,000 euro was a whole money scam.

Last year just around this time i was getting my hair cut one day and my hair dresser asked me to call into her husband who was a photographer. He took a few normal pictures of me just to have on file and then if something came up for me he would give me call, so modest me thought nothing of it and didn't expect to hear anything but a couple of weeks later surprise surprise he had some work for me- a photo shoot in a magazine! I couldn't believe it. I spent 10 hours posing, getting my hair done and my makeup touched up every half hour. Believe it or not it wasn't that easy. The Boyne Magazine eventually came into the shops and it was really weird to see myself on the front cover but i got used to it. After all that calmed down i got another photo shoot for the same magazine, swimwear-nerve wrecking! But sadly the photographer and the magazine owners had a falling out so that was the end of that. I haven't really had any other work but i got a portfolio out of it so it was worth it!
